Since my birthday and my return from Cairns I will be the first to admit that I have fallen off the face of the earth of all of my friends and family in Wisconsin. My bad guys, I am actually really sorry.
This last month has been a whirl wind of people leaving for home, final exams, sewing, trying to see the last dregs of the city, and being basically exhausted.
Right away when I returned I had my Millinery assessment, which went very well, not perfect, but well. For the next two weeks I have been going to the school every day from 8 am to 5 pm and sewing my final menswear line. When I was not sewing I was working on my portfolio process books, technical reports, or my poster lay outs. Today I had my final assessment for this class it went fantastic! I was very very nervous for the outcome and for going in and presenting in front of the panel but they were so nice and supportive and Kirk (my model and friend) did amazing, and yeah, it was just great all around!!!
So now I have 12 days left here in Melbourne.
I plan to hit up as many restaurants and cafes as possible and say teary good byes to all my friends here. I also plan to spend part of every day buying fresh fruit from the market, exploring a part of the city I still haven’t seen, packing, and saying goodbye to my life here.
So this is my life as of late!
Man, they just keep popping up everywhere don’t they!
Missed my flight to Cairns today, not the flight flight, but the cut off for the check in time. Thats ok, rescheduled for tomorrow.
Just another little practice run. No bigs….
So I had to catch my flight at 6 am, but the airport I flew out of was about an hour outside of Melbourne, so I had to catch a bus at 4 am to get there. I had to get the bus from Southern Cross Station which is a huge train/tram/bus station in Melbourne so I wanted to get there early to be able to find the service desk in time to catch my bus. So I checked the tram schedules to see what tram would get me to the station around 3:30 and saw that i would have to get on the 96 at 2:40 am. So I set my alarm for 1 am to be able to get dressed, eat, get money from the atm, and then catch my tram. Here is the catch, trams dont run that late so I ended up catching a taxi at 2:11 and getting to the Station at 2:23. The place was desolate and I found the desk in three minutes flat, so there I was, at Southern Cross at 2:26 am waiting for my 4 am bus out. At least my early tendencies at diminishing in length from a day to a matter of hours. Sleeping in buses or on planes is hard, so needless to say I am exhausted both physically and mentally and all I wanted to do when i got here was crawl into my borrowed bed and sleep. Unfortunately, I can not check in till 2 pm so i stowed my things, grabbed a coffee, and am now sitting in a park typing this because I am too tired to walk around. Maybe this afternoon after a wee nap. Tomorrow I am going to the Opera House, the Botanical Gardens, and the bridge and whatever else I can find in that area. I have my handy dandy Sydney walking tour cards to guide the way!
I am going to Sydney this weekend and I am stoked! I am talking the walking tour cards my sister gave me and my trusty camera and I am going to have a great three days!
